Traffic and Society

At our department, we have over 110 employees. Our mission is to develop and conduct sustainable transportation for a growing Uppsala County. We develop, among other things, the infrastructure and public transport within the county. Under the brand UL, public transport is operated in collaboration with contracted transport companies. Our employees have a wide range of competencies and work with business development, procurement, urban planning, traffic planning, system management, finance, sales, and customer service. Our work makes it easier to travel and live sustainably in a growing county. Working with something that affects so many people every day is challenging, responsible, and satisfying.

Our Operations

We are now looking for a person to work as both contract manager for our train agreements and as a project manager for traffic during construction. The infrastructure in Uppsala is undergoing a major transformation, and in the coming years, the tramway in Uppsala will be expanded, while the railway to Stockholm is being developed with more tracks, new stations, and a rebuilt interchange at Uppsala C.

The position is split, and will be approximately half contract manager for the train agreements and the remaining half as project manager for traffic during construction, which is a sub-project within the tram project, coordinating other major works affecting bus and train traffic in Uppsala.

The traffic department's mission is to coordinate the follow-up of traffic agreements and assignments in all areas based on contract follow-up, production, and reliability. The department initiates and leads procurement work in traffic, maintains the operational dialogue with transport companies, is responsible for safety and security in public transport, develops and optimizes timetables and schedules within the network in collaboration with transport companies, makes changes during planned traffic disruptions, and is responsible for supplying transport companies with biogas and depots.

The region is responsible within the tram project for building a new depot, procuring trams, procuring traffic and maintenance suppliers, and managing the disruptions to public transport that arise during the construction period.

Your Mission

The contract manager for trains is responsible for the traffic agreements and the relationship with Region Stockholm and Mälardalstrafik. This involves planning the follow-up and gathering and leading a cross-functional team across all departments that have expertise within the agreement to drive and develop the delivery to the customer. Since there are several contract managers in the department, parts of the work may involve coordination and support for those responsible for other agreements within bus and tram.

The project manager for traffic during construction is responsible for their sub-project within the region's tram project. This involves planning the changes in traffic needed to continue providing the best and most efficient public transport possible while major works are ongoing. As the Swedish Transport Administration begins construction work for four tracks, the work will involve managing the impact from both the tram and railway expansions.

In addition to internal coordination within the administration and Region Uppsala, you will have close contact with partners such as municipalities, transport companies, and other regional public transport authorities.

Your Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in economics, law, logistics, community development, or management, or longer work experience in one or more of these areas.
  • Documented experience in project management of complex projects.
  • Experience in the public transport industry.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Experience in negotiation and follow-up of complex agreements.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience in planning and follow-up of train traffic.
  • Experience in planning bus traffic.

We Offer

A permanent position at 100% with a start date to be agreed upon.
